Creative Reuse Fashion Show
“No one wants business suits, not the refugees, homeless, artists or anti-consumerists who frequent the Zoristirio Freeshop. So what to do with this excessive waste of capitalism? Create surplus value, of course. All the garments are fashioned from the basic components of a classic business suit: jacket, slacks, button down shirt and tie. For a world ready to be post business as usual, post waste, and post exploitation of people and resources; a new fashion for a post capitalist world.” Maria Juliana Byck
The Zoristirio Freeshop is located in the Communitism building in Athens. During the “Europe Was Taken By A Bull” residency I joined Maria Juliana Byck to help out with her Re:Fashion project. Each outfit was custom made for the model so it was a really nice to see people coming in to Maria for their fittings. The fashion show took place on the roof of the Communitism building and streamed live online.
Here’s an interview with Maria about the project: http://ethicalode.com/interview-from-maria-juliana-byck/
